Lake Manyara National Park
Nestled in the Great Rift Valley at the foot of the western escarpment, this 320 sq. km. park can simply be referred to as a paradise of wildlife. The solid mass of shimmering Flamingoes stretching for miles turns Lake Manyara into a pink surfaced lake. This beautiful park is the only sanctuary in the world where lions knowing that they are kings of the jungle roost high on their thrones in the acacia branches. Over 350 species of birds inhabit the soda lake and its surrounds joining the wallowing hippos in their pools.

Tarangire National Park
Tarangire, 115 kms south-west of Arusha and covering an area of 2,600 sq kms is a refreshing Retreat for vast numbers of animals in the dry season, July to October, as the Tarangire River is the only permanent water source for many miles. Tarangire, with nine distinct vegetation zones, is home to large herds of elephants and the only park where the fringe-eared Oryx and the lesser Kudu can be seen. A spectacular baobab woodland in the north is home for some of the 260 species of birds in this enchanting park.

Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area
Ngorongoro Crater is one of the natural wonders of the world. Its natural scenic grandeur with six mountain peaks of 3,000 meters constantly in sight, there are frequent sightings of the big five: lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo, and leopards. Thousands of teeming plains game and an enormous variety of birds with thousands of Flamingos throwing a pink mantle over the crater floor lake confirms the fact that this conservation area is indeed “a little piece of heaven”. This amphitheatre’s floor teems with animals all year round while the vegetation blooms in acres of flowers - pink, blue and white lupins, candle white lilies, sheets of buttercups, colored marguerites, flame gladiolus, blue hyacinth and carpets of clover all throwing their sweet aroma in the air. The heart of the conservation area is inhabited by over 12,000 Maasai pastoralists herding over 100,000 cattle which co-exist with some 40,000 resident game animals, a phenomenon that almost defies description. This pioneer venture in multiple land usage is constantly watched with keen interest by ecologists and conservationists all over the world. Ngorongoro was an active volcano about 8 million years ago whose cone collapsed leaving a crater, or more appropriately a caldera 610 meters deep, 16 kms across and 539 sq kms in area. It is the largest intact crater in the world. Why and how the animals are found in their permanent sanctuary remains the eighth wonder of the world!
